The Center for Career & Professional Development at John Jay looks forward to partnering with you as you explore, engage and recruit the best talent at John Jay from interns to full-time hires and everything in between. We are excited to share with you a summary of the current and new menu of services and resources we are offering to benefit and support our employers as they partner with us.

We encourage employers to host an information session to launch your recruitment efforts at John Jay. Employer Information sessions and presentations can greatly enhance your on-campus recruitment effort. Sessions early on in the semester raise student knowledge and awareness about your organization, thereby increasing the number of resumes submitted and candidates interested in your organization’s employment opportunities.

Tabling is a great way to increase visibility, develop brand recognition and raise awareness about opportunities with your organization. The best days to conduct tabling events are Monday through Thursday between 9:30 AM - 5 PM throughout the fall and spring semesters.

The on-campus recruitment program invites organizations to interview John Jay Undergraduate & Graduate students and alumni in our on-site interview rooms. Conducting on-campus interviews is a key service and resource in achieving a strong presence on campus. On-campus interviews can take place on-campus Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM in the fall and spring semesters.

CareerCon: February 25th-27th, 2025
The Career Learning Lab is a three-day event designed to help students identify internships and full-time job opportunities that align with their academic and career goals. Students connect with employers from various sectors (government, non-profit, private) and industries (consulting, education, finance, healthcare, media, tech, etc.). The event features panels, information sessions, tabling, where students can gain insights on the skills, academic qualifications, and certifications needed to succeed in today’s job market.
All requests submitted through John Jay Career Online are time and date-stamped and are determined based on a first-come, first serve basis and fit with the campus. Dates and space fill up quickly, so we encourage all employers to submit their requests early. Email recruit@jjay.cuny.edu for more information.
At CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, success is a tradition, and we like to hear about the career accomplishments of our students. If you are an employer who has recently hired a John Jay student or alumni, please take a moment to reach out to us to let us know. In addition to celebrating career achievements, this information also helps us to identify successful recruiting practices so we can better serve the students and employers that we work with.
The Academic Internship Program is an integral part of a students’ path to career discovery. This program supports students in discovering, experiencing, and deciding upon future career goals.
Responsibility of Site Supervisors:
- To orient students to the organization.
- To provide a safe work environment that is free of harassment and discrimination
- To provide a learning environment that contributes to the student’s personal and professional growth
- To make available equipment, supplies, and space necessary for the student to perform his/her duties
- To supervise students through weekly conferences for the purpose of assisting them in their learning experience
- To appraise students of their performance, complete and return a semester evaluation of each student’s performance
- To advise the faculty member or Center for Career and Professional Development of any student whose performance or attendance is unsatisfactory
Employer Advisory Council
The Employer Advisory Council at John Jay College of Criminal Justice supports the Career Learning Lab by offering expert guidance to enhance career preparation and curriculum alignment with industry needs. The Council shares insights on industry trends, talent skills, and recruitment practices, and helps refine the Lab’s services and messaging. While its advice is non-binding, the Council plays a key role in mentorship, strategic planning, and fostering employer partnerships. Members, with 10-20 years of industry experience, serve two-year terms, attending bi-monthly meetings to contribute to the Lab’s growth and improve student career prospects.
