Non-Discrimination & Equal Opportunity

We're proud of our richly diverse student body and our standing as a Minority-Serving and Hispanic-Serving Institution. We are committed to hiring a diverse workforce and cultivating an inclusive community that is reflective of our society. We also investigate or help resolve incidents involving  discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.

The Office of Compliance and Diversity oversees the College’s affirmative action and recruitment programs by providing training and reviewing recruitment data to ensure fair and equitable hiring practices. CUNY Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy can be found here. For any general questions regarding compliance with employment-related laws and policies, contact Gabriela Leal at gleal@jjay.cuny.edu or 646-557-4674.

Members of the University community, as well as visitors, may promptly report any allegations of discrimination or retaliation to the Office of Compliance & Diversity by emailing CDO@jjay.cuny.edu or by filling out this form.

Retaliation or threatening to retaliate against an employee or student for filing a complaint, reporting discrimination or harassment or participating in an investigation is prohibited and will not be tolerated at the College.

Although only the Office of Compliance and Diversity can address or investigate any instances of discrimination, employees who wish to speak confidentially about the impact of discrimination can access supportive confidential resources, including private counseling from CUNY’s employee assistance program, CCA@YourService. To access the program, call the toll-free Helpline at 800-833-8707 or log on to the website, www.myccaonline.com and use the company code: CUNY.

* Students who wish to receive confidential counseling for employment (or non-employment-related) matters may contact the Counseling Center, L68.NB, 212-237-8111, or reach out directly to Jessica Greenfield, Counselor/Confidential Title IX Advocate at, jgreenfield@jjay.cuny.edu, 646-557-4535).

We work with critical partners to help ensure compliance with regulations and policies that foster an inclusive environment and assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing John Jay's Affirmative Action Plan.
