Re: Website Performance
The John Jay website was temporarily offline on October 18 and 23 and periodically takes too long to load. This is frustrating and disruptive. You expect our site to be reliable and we’re sorry that it’s undependable at times.
Here’s how we’re addressing it:
- We restored the site database from a backup. Many, many thanks to Joe Laub and members of the IT team for their invaluable work on this.
- We’ve been working with the vendor that developed the site to diagnose the cause and identify a solution.
- We’ve been moving through the approval process with CUNY Central to migrate the site to an external server with dedicated support. This should decrease the likelihood of issues like this occurring and allow us to identify and address them more quickly when they do. Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeline but we'll share an update when we have more information.
