RE:  John Jay Transition to Microsoft 365 (M365) Email has been Moved to January 14th

The transitioning of John Jay faculty, staff, student, alumni and retiree email to Microsoft 365 (M365) is being pushed back to January 14, 2026. The additional time is allowing us to address a technical issue and will ensure other services are in place on the first day of the launch.

To prepare for the cutover we again recommend members of the John Jay Community take the following steps:

  • Verify you can login to https://home.cunyfirst.cuny.edu
  • Download the Microsoft Authenticator Application to your mobile device from the Apple App Store or Google Play or setup another authentication method when prompted
  • Familiarize yourself with the guides and other information found on the M365 Email Migration Page.

On the day of the transition:

  • Email will be available immediately through Outlook on the Web at https://outlook.com using your @login.cuny.edu username and password.
  • All current email and content may not be available immediately following the transition. It will catch up in a few days following the migration
  • You will need to reconfigure your mobile devices and desktop email clients (e.g., Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.) Reference guides on how to make these changes are available on the M365 Email Migration Page
  • Support will be available through the Helpdesk and additional staff are being added to assist during the transition

Important additional information:

  • We expect to be very busy during the transition. Wait times will be longer than usual. We appreciate your patience
  • When emailing the helpdesk please provide your name, CUNY login, a brief description of the issue and a way to contact you

Additional communication and information will follow. If you have questions or concerns, please contact DoIT at helpdesk@jjay.cuny.edu or 212.237.8200 or visit us on L2 in the New Building.
