- Click here to submit your application. Register for a CUNY account and fill out an application. Supporting documents should be sent to CUNY, not John Jay. The priority deadline for the Fall semester is February 1 and September 15 for the Spring. Applications received after will still be reviewed but may take longer to complete.
If you are a citizen of a country where English is not the official language, you must take one of the approved English Proficiency tests and send the score directly to CUNY Admissions code 2950. Click here for a list of countries and exemptions.
Accepted English proficiency tests and minimum scores:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) / 500 for the paper-based test, 173 for the computer-based test and 61 for the Internet-based test Click here to learn more about TOEFL

Please note: Successful completion of an English Composition course with a grade of C or higher at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education will exempt you from the English proficiency test requirement.Freshman applicants must submit:

Copies of secondary school diplomas and official English translations if these documents are in another language (evaluations are not required)
SAT or ACT test is highly recommended for students from countries where English is not the official language or students that did not take Math and English in high school. An SAT verbal score of 530 or higher will exempt you from the English proficiency test requirement.
