The Office of Compliance & Diversity and the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs invites you to attend “Understanding Jewish Experiences & Antisemitism” on Thursday, March 30, 2023 during Community Hour, 1:40pm – 2:55pm. This workshop will be presented by the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
This is just one program in a series of community DEI events, initiatives and trainings planned for this semester to confront discrimination and promote an inclusive environment for all in our diverse John Jay community.
“Understanding Jewish Experiences & Antisemitism” explores Jewish history, culture and antisemitism through a human rights lens and with a special focus on our local New York City Jewish communities. The program will delve into: 1) antisemitism and its impact on Jewish New Yorkers and society at large, as well as its connection to other forms of prejudice and oppression; 2) the diversity of Jewish cultures and identities including diverse ethnic, racial, and religious groups within the Jewish community; and 3) developing strategies to interrupt antisemitism alongside other forms of discrimination.
