Professor Toler is currently in her fifth year at the Graduate Center where she is working on her PhD in Modern European History focusing on Britain with an additional specialization in American history. Her current research is in the History of Childhood and the formation of late Victorian and Edwardian gender identity. As well as being a faculty member, she is also a CUNY Writing Fellow here at John Jay, assisting different departments in the assessment and improvement of student writing.  She is originally from New York and completed her undergraduate degree at CUNY in the Macaulay Honors College at Lehman College.  From an educational background in the history of empire, she is pleased to be teaching the modern section of global history  at John Jay.
