Hi Anthropology and Culture and Deviance Studies students! My name is Maxine Eisenberg and I am a Culture and Deviance Studies Major at John Jay. I just finished my Sophomore year and I am spending all of next year, my Junior year, studying abroad. Fall semester I am going to San José, Costa Rica with a CUNY program at Hunter College and spring semester I am going to Santiago, Dominican Republic with a non profit study abroad organization called CIEE. I have always loved to travel and share my experiences so I am really excited to study abroad while at John Jay and share it with you. I think a lot of students are scared to try traveling or are worried about cost but I hope I can encourage some of you to study abroad because I believe it is more attainable than you may think cost wise and it’s definitely worth being scared, take the risk, you will learn so much and have a lot of fun. Especially as anthropology students this is such an important way to study. I have kept a travel blog since I finished high school and began doing a lot of travel on my own. I am now going to be continuing my blog sharing my study abroad experience with you as it unfolds! I hope you will find my blog fun to read and maybe get inspired to study abroad too. If you go through the blog archives you can read about my travels in Spain, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, Turkey, Morocco, and Panama! Feel free to reach out to me with questions or feedback and stay posted in the fall to learn about one John Jay student’s study abroad experience.
Happy Travels, Maxine!
