Newly Admitted In-service Students

Students accepted to the In-service Program are encouraged to complete the steps below to register for the Spring 2018 semester:

1.  IMMUNIZATION RECORDS:  

Students may not register until the immunization records are received.  If you attended a CUNY college within the past 10 years, you are not required to resubmit your immunization records.  You may access CUNYfirst to determine if you are required to submit your immunization records.  If you do not have an Immunization Record hold, you may begin registering by skipping to step 2, to activate your CUNYfirst account.

If you are required to submit your immunization records, you may click here.  You may fax the records to the Wellness Center at 212-237-8026.  Please follow-up with the Wellness Center to confirm receipt at 212-237-8053.  

Acceptable proof of immunity may include:

  • Immunization cards from childhood (yellow card), signed and stamped
  • Immunization records from college, high school or other schools you attended
  • Signed and stamped immunization record from your health care provider or clinic
  • Students born after 1994 who were raised in New York City can check the Citywide Immunization Registry for their records by calling 311
  • Copy of lab report, (also known as titer or serology), showing immunity to measles, mumps and rubella
  • Proof of honorable discharge from the armed services within 10 years from the date of application will enable the student to attend school pending actual receipt of the immunization records from the armed services 

 

2.  EMAIL ACCOUNT SETUP: 

Click here to access your John Jay student email account.  John Jay College will be communicating with you using your new John Jay email account.  You may also forward your John Jay emails to your personal email or change your “primary” email on CUNYfirst. If you are experiencing technical difficulties, please contact the Help Desk at 212-237-8200.

3.  TRANSCRIPTS: 

Please allow 2 - 3 weeks after receiving the admission acceptance, for all transcripts to be evaluated.  Credit evaluations and unofficial transcripts may be viewed by accessing CUNYfirst.  Students may send any additional transcripts to the following address:

4.  ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT

Once all transcripts have been submitted and evaluated, please contact Liz Bracey in the Academic Advisement Center at 212-393-6006 for academic advising.  

5.  VETERAN SERVICES:

6.  ACTIVATE CUNYFIRST ACCOUNT: 

All students are to register online via CUNYfirst.  CUNYfirst gives students access to register for classes, view unofficial transcripts, credit evaluation, schedule and grades, etc.  To access CUNYfirst, you are required to activate your account by clicking here and clicking on “New User” and following the prompts.  Once you successfully complete this process, an 8-digit EMPL ID (CUNY ID) will be generated.  Your EMPL ID will be used in lieu of your social security number.

To search for courses, follow the instructions below:

  • Go to Student Center
  • In the upper right corner, select the Search for Classes button
  • Select the drop down box to select John Jay College for your institution
  • Select the correct term Spring 2018
  • To search for the courses, you may choose the Course Subject, Course Number (i.e. CRJ 101, POL 101, etc.), and/or Course Career (undergraduate)
  • Make note of the 5-digit registration code (you will need this in order to register)
 

To begin registering, follow the instructions below:

  • On the Student Center page in the Academics section, click the Enroll link
  • Select the term Spring 2018
  • Click Continue
  • Enter the 5-digit class number within the Enter Class Nbr box
  • Click Enter
  • Click Next
  • To add another class, enter the 5-digit class number for the next class, then click the Proceed to Step 2 of 3 button
  • Verify that the classes are correct.  If yes, click the Finish Enrolling button
  • You may view your schedule by clicking on My Class Schedule
