The MSRC accepts applications year-round, but we typically interview only twice per year, in mid-January and mid-August.  For application instructions, please see below.  Qualified applicants will be contacted via email to schedule a diagnostic exam and interview. 


A peer tutor is a tutor who is also an undergraduate student.  Most of our peer tutors are John Jay students, but we also hire qualified peer tutors from other local colleges. For a full job description, minimum qualifications, and other general information about becoming a peer tutor, please click here to download our peer tutor brochure.  Applicants for the position of peer tutor must submit a completed application form, at least one faculty recommendation, a resume, and copies of all undergraduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are fine).

Resumes should include any relevant experience and coursework.

Transcripts do not have to be official.  Unofficial copies are fine.  For John Jay or other CUNY schools, you can print your unofficial transcript directly from CUNYfirst. 

Resumes and transcripts may be delivered in person or scanned and emailed as PDF attachments.  Please clearly indentify yourself and the the document in the file names. For example: jsmith-resume.pdf, jsmith-transcript.pdf.

Are you eligible to receive Work-Study through your Financial Aid? Then you can apply to be a Receptionist at the Math & Science Resource Center!  We currently have limited positions available for remote office assistants.  You must apply online from the Federal Work-Study website.  Front Desk Staff are hired for the fall and spring semesters.
