UPDATE: John Jay Summer and Fall 2020 Study-Abroad Programs SUSPENDED

  • All John Jay College-run and -approved summer and fall 2020 study-abroad programs have been suspended.  This means these programs will not be offered this summer and fall.
  • Moreover, applications for non-John Jay College summer or fall 2020 study-abroad programs will NOT be processed or approved.
  • This decision is based on the U.S. Department of State's issuance of the Global Level 4 - Do Not Travel - Health Advisory.

Our office is committed to put the safety and wellbeing of all our students, faculty, and staff first. The rapidly changing travel restrictions introduce a risk variable that our office can neither predict nor control. We want to take this opportunity to thank all our John Jay student community and all those who support international education for your patience, courage, maturity, and understanding as our office navigates through this global health crisis.

Regarding John Jay College Study-Abroad Programs in 2021

The Office of International Studies & Programs will collect applications for winter 2020-2021 programs (January term 2021).  We will be assessing each program according to health, safety, and quality standards set by the College and University. Should we cancel program, students will be informed before any financial commitment to the program.

Our office is in daily communication with its affiliate program partners abroad (program providers and host universities) in order to continuously monitor how the situation might develop over the coming weeks and months. As the situation evolves, we will continue to monitor locations and will work with students on a case-by-case basis should their semester plans be impacted.  Our office and program partners are here as a resource to students with questions or concerns about their upcoming study-abroad plans.

The health and safety of our students, staff, and faculty are our first priority, and we rely on guidance from our partners as well as advice provided by US, local, and international authorities in order to determine whether a program should run. As this is a rapidly evolving situation, we will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary to students who are planning to participate on summer programs.

The John Jay College Office of International Studies & Programs continues to send messages directly to students who are currently abroad, as well as students’ emergency contacts when appropriate.
