PDP is an informative plan designed to enhance your professional knowledge, skills and behavior so you can better adjust to a professional culture.
PDP accomplishes this through the following:
Career Services Computer Lab
Workshop Series
Individualized Advisement Sessions
Career Information Library
You are required to register with PDP in order to utilize the services offered.
For further information visit the Career Development Center, call 212-237-8305 or email pdp@jjay.cuny.edu.
Career Services Computer Lab
At the lab, you can familiarize yourself with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Binder and Outlook in the Career Services Computer Lab. In addition, you may use the Lab to compose resumes and cover letters using a resume software program. You may also utilize the Lab's computers to search the Internet for available jobs, information on various careers and companies or to obtain professional development information. You may use the Lab on a walk-in basis.
Workshop Series
Throughout each academic semester, PDP offers workshops on such topics as resume and cover letter writing, job search, professional etiquette, workplace skills, interview skills and dress for success. You must register for each of these workshops and may sign up for all workshops offered. Look for the Workshop Series on John Jay Careers Online.
Individualized Assessment
You may receive one-to-one advising to address specific concerns or questions regarding your resume and/or cover letter and interviewing. You must upload your resume and/or cover letter into John Jay Careers Online to be critiqued. Once approved, you may utilize PDP's fax machine to send their resume to prospective employers.
Career Information Library
PDP maintains information on various aspects of professional protocol and etiquette. You may peruse or borrow booklets on Your Resume--Key to a Successful Job Search, Job Interview Skills--How to Get the Job You Want, Developing Workplace Skills and About Improving Your Interpersonal Skills. Furthermore, you may view videotapes on professional etiquette and human resource management issues. If you have specific professional development concerns, please speak with a member of the Career Development Center.
