Career advisors are here to help you develop your personal, educational, and career goals through an integration of academic and career choices. They provide you with career resources and information that will help you make wise and realistic academic and career decisions. These career advisors can discuss with you the importance of acquiring specific knowledge, skills and dispositions to succeed in school and in life.
Several career development workshops are held throughout the year on topics related to occupational areas and career decision-making. Career advising websites are also available to assist you with technology and informational literacy skills that are needed in the world of work.
Career advisors can help you learn how to acquire career information and to make decisions that will lead towards the completion of a four-year degree and beyond, and employment that is related to your academic concentration. Moreover, career advisors offer one-to-one advising to address specific concerns or questions regarding applying to graduate school, e.g., prep tests, letters of recommendation, graduate school fairs and graduate program requirements.
To learn more about how to insure your academic and professional success, contact the Career Development Center to schedule an appointment with a career advisor, 212-237-8754 or email careers@jjay.cuny.edu.
